To ensure that your watch works reliably, we explain here what you need to consider when purchasing a SIM card. Not all SIM card providers are currently supported.
Important information
- Avoid multi-SIMs and additional cards: We strongly advise against using multi-SIM plans or additional cards. These plans frequently cause problems when activating and operating the watches.
- No SIMs on the 1&1 network: SIM cards operated on the 1&1 network (e.g. Drillisch brands such as PremiumSIM, winSIM, sim.de, etc.) are not suitable. This always applies to the Anio 5. For the Anio 6, this applies particularly if the watch has a firmware version lower than V.16.2.
- Compatibility not guaranteed: The compatibility of SIM cards from other, unlisted providers cannot be guaranteed, even if these providers use the same mobile network as listed providers.
Basic requirements
- Size: Nano SIM card (no eSIM)
-
Data allowance per month: depends on the watch in question
- Most mobile network providers offer small plans with 500 MB or 1 GB. This data allowance is completely sufficient for normal use. Depending on the watch, even smaller data allowances may be sufficient. Please note that unused data from data plans is not carried over to the following month. Therefore, expensive data plans with several gigabytes of data do not make sense for an Anio smartwatch.
- Recommendation: Unlimited calls for frequent callers or per-minute billing for infrequent callers

Which SIM card do we recommend?
Many mobile network providers meet the requirements for the Anio.
However, if you do not yet have a suitable SIM card, you can also use a card from one of our mobile network partners. These are fully compatible technically and specially optimised for children's smartwatches.
